STEEL & LIGHT

Completed in 2009, the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque stands as a groundbreaking feat of modern Islamic engineering. Widely known as the 'Iron Mosque,' it was constructed using approximately 6,000 tons of steel — nearly double that of the Eiffel Tower — to create a monumental yet transparent character in the heart of Putrajaya.

The architecture is defined by an innovative open-air concept that rejects traditional domes for a more structuralist approach. The signature industrial-grade wire mesh allows for passive natural ventilation and soft diffused light, ensuring the prayer hall remains breezy and illuminated. This high-tech aesthetic provides a sharp, clean silhouette that perfectly aligns with Putrajaya's visionary planned city design.
